Day 18367

Nearing the end of another year.
A time for reflection at time to projection!
What did we do that we like, or don't like? What would we like to change or do different next year?
End of year is nice, it draws a line in the sand to a period of time and gives us a chance to reflect on the things we have done. Things we would still like to do and things we would like to see happen in the future.

Loose weight? Read more? Watch less TV? Spend more time with the family? Spend more time in nature? Visit some place you have never been?

All fine goals but what about drawing near to God? Is this on your list of things to do in 2010 (the ought years are gone again ought 9)? Will you allow yourself to draw near to the Creator of the Universe? Will you allow him to draw near to you?

He loves you and sent his son to die on the cross for your sins. Jesus Rose again and now sits at the right hand of God. Will you turn your heart to him?

Hear the story of Christ and God's love for you
Believe that Jesus IS the ONLY way to God, there is no other way to get to heaven but through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Confess Your Sins to Him!
Repent of Your Sins
Be Baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Christmas Over?

Christmas is over, right?
What ever happened that day (and the events leading up to that day) God the son gave up what ever he was to become forever changed.
He became the God Man. What exactly does that mean? I am not sure but he was still God and yet man, the two tied together. This is what he chose to become on our behalf and forever he would be. Stephen when he was stoned so Christ sitting at the right hand of God, the Christ he had seen on earth was in heaven recognizable as he had been from his earthly days. His former form was forever changed when he became God-Man and it would remain that way for all eternity. He chose to do this for us!

Do you believe in the Christ, the Son of the Living God?

Christmas Quote

"God grant you the light in Christmas, which is faith; the warmth of Christmas, which is love; the radiance of Christmas, which is purity; the righteousness of Christmas, which is justice; the belief in Christmas, which is truth; the all of Christmas, which is Christ."

Word

Maybe now is the time to switch to OpenOffice software:

OpenOffice

It's free and comes with no legal issues like Word does.

Microsoft Word sale prohibited as of Jan. 11, fix promised

Tue Dec 22, 2009 2:23PM EST

Office workers of America, enjoy your Christmas break. Because come the new year, things could get a little hairy around the office. Microsoft Word is now scheduled to be prohibited from sale beginning January 11, 2010. That's less than three weeks away. The good news: Microsoft has promised a fix, one which will be rolled out before the deadline arrives.

If you don't understand, you might have simply missed this story, or dismissed it as something that Microsoft would ultimately use its considerable clout to have pushed under a legal rug.

But it's no joke. In August of this year, a court sided with a small Canadian company called i4i that holds a 1998 patent on the way the XML language is implemented, finding that Microsoft was in violation of that patent. The result: Microsoft was told to license the code in question from i4i or reprogram it, or else Microsoft Word would have to be removed from sale in the market. The original ruling gave Microsoft until October to get its legal affairs in order, but appeals pushed that out a bit.

Now a federal court has upheld that original ruling -- plus a fat, $290 million judgment against the company -- imposing the new January 11 D-Day on the matter. Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office will both be barred from sale as of that date -- though naturally you'll still be able to use copies of Word and Office that you already own, and Microsoft will be allowed to keep supporting those copies.

Unless Microsoft ships the promised technical workaround very quickly, things are going to get extremely dicey in the computer world, and fast. Not only will retail outlets selling shrinkwrapped copies of the software be affected, computer manufacturers (who complained loudly about this injunction when it was announced) who bundle Word and Office on the computers they sell will also be seriously impacted by the ruling.

There's always a chance things will change again as the January 11 deadline approaches, but if your company requires Word or Office to keep operations running, it might not be a bad idea to stock up on a few extra copies now.

Merry Christmas, My Friend

   Merry Christmas, My Friend

Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone,
In a one bedroom house made of plaster & stone.

I had come down the chimney, with presents to give
and to see just who in this home did live

As I looked all about, a strange sight I did see,
no tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.
No stocking by the fire, just boots filled with sand.
On the wall hung pictures of a far distant land.

With medals and badges, awards of all kind,
a sobering thought soon came to my mind.
For this house was different, unlike any I'd seen.
This was the home of a U.S. Marine.

I'd heard stories about them, I had to see more,
so I walked down the hall and pushed open the door.
And there he lay sleeping, silent, alone,
Curled up on the floor in his one-bedroom home.

He seemed so gentle, his face so serene,
    Not how I pictured a U.S. Marine.
Was this the hero, of whom I’d just read?
Curled up in his poncho, a floor for his bed?

His head was clean-shaven, his weathered face tan.
I soon understood, this was more than a man.
For I realized the families that I saw that night,
owed their lives to these men, who were willing to fight.

Soon around the Nation, the children would play,
And grown-ups would celebrate on a bright Christmas day.
They all enjoyed freedom, each month and all year,
because of Marines like this one lying here.

I couldn’t help wonder how many lay alone,
on a cold Christmas Eve, in a land far from home.
Just the very thought brought a tear to my eye.
I dropped to my knees and I started to cry.

He must have awoken, for I heard a rough voice,
"Santa, don't cry, this life is my choice
I fight for freedom, I don't ask for more.
My life is my God, my country, my Corps."

With that he rolled over, drifted off into sleep,
I couldn't control it, I continued to weep.

I watched him for hours, so silent and still.
I noticed he shivered from the cold night's chill.
So I took off my jacket, the one made of red,
and covered this Marine from his toes to his head.
Then I put on his T-shirt of scarlet and gold,
with an eagle, globe and anchor emblazoned so bold.
And although it barely fit me, I began to swell with pride,
and for one shining moment, I was Marine Corps deep inside.

I didn't want to leave him so quiet in the night,
this guardian of honor so willing to fight.
But half asleep he rolled over, and in a voice clean and pure,
said "Carry on, Santa, it's Christmas Day, all secure."
One look at my watch and I knew he was right,
Merry Christmas my friend, Semper Fi and goodnight.

Christmas Cookie Rules

Christmas Cookie Rules

   1. If you eat a Christmas cookie fresh out of the oven, it has no calories because everyone knows that the first cookie is the test and thus calorie free.
   2. If you drink a diet soda after eating your second cookie, it also has no calories because the diet soda cancels out the cookie calories.
   3. If a friend comes over while you're making your Christmas cookies and needs to sample, you must sample with your friend. Because your friend's first cookie is calorie free, (rule #1) yours is also. It would be rude to let your friend sample alone and, being the friend that you are, that makes your cookie calorie free.
   4. Any cookie calories consumed while walking around will fall to your feet and eventually fall off as you move. This is due to gravity and the density of the caloric mass.
   5. Any calories consumed during the frosting of the Christmas cookies will be used up because it takes many calories to lick excess frosting from a knife without cutting your tongue.
   6. Cookies colored red or green have very few calories. Red ones have three and green ones have five - one calorie for each letter. Make more red ones!
   7. Cookies eaten while watching "Miracle on 34th Street" have no calories because they are part of the entertainment package and not part of one's personal fuel.
   8. As always, cookie pieces contain no calories because the process of breaking causes calorie leakage.
   9. Any cookies consumed from someone else's plate have no calories since the calories Rightfully belong to the other person and will cling to their plate. We all know how calories like to CLING!
  10. Any cookies consumed while feeling stressed have no calories because cookies used for medicinal purposes NEVER have calories. It's a rule!

So, go out and enjoy those Christmas Cookies - we only get them this time of year!

Time

Someone once told me that time is a predator that stalked us all our lives. But I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey that reminds us to cherish every moment because they'll never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we live it. After all, Number One, we're only mortal.

God Create's New

Behold, I create new

(Isaiah 65:17) For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

The new heavens and earth the Lord Jesus Christ will create will make the old unrememberable as our new lives in Christ make our old lives unrememberable.

Ticket to Ride!

One of the great uses of Twitter and Facebook will be to prove at the Last Day that prayerlessness was not from lack of time. (John Piper)  October 20, 2009 tweet

Todays "Our Daily Bread" was great and I wanted to point this link out.
It was especialy pointful since I have been stuck in airports many times.

November 30, 2009 Our Daily Bread
Nowhere Tickets
READ: John 14:1-6
Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. —Acts 4:12

We kept getting tickets to nowhere. We had finished a missions trip to Jamaica and were trying to get home. However, our airline was having problems, and no matter what our tickets said, we couldn’t leave Montego Bay. Over and over we heard, “Your flight has been canceled.” Even though we had purchased our tickets in good faith, the airline could not back up its promise to transport us to the US. We had to stay an extra day before boarding a plane that could take us home.

Imagine thinking that you are headed for heaven, but discovering that your ticket is no good. It can happen. If you trust the wrong plan, you will get to the gate of eternity but be denied entrance into heaven to live with God forever.

The apostle Peter said there is salvation in no one else but Jesus (Acts 4:12). Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). The only ticket to heaven goes to those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ and His death on the cross as payment for their sin.

Some offer other ways. But those tickets are worthless. To make sure you’re going to heaven, trust Jesus. He’s the only way.  — Dave Branon

Lord, I know I’m a sinner and cannot save myself. I need You as my Savior. Thank You for dying in my place and rising again. I believe in You. Please forgive my sin. I want to live with You in heaven someday.

Jesus took my place on the cross and gave me a place in heaven.

Home Team

Our High School is in the Championship game for State, they won all but one game.  They beet every team in their devision.  They are considered the Home Team for the state championship.  They have to travel 5 hours to get to the game and the "Visiting Team" only has to travel 1 hour.  Is that messed up or what?

Milky Way, exmaple of Creation

This was a great devotional from Creation Moments and I wanted to share it.

What Does the Milky Way Say About Evolution?

Job 22:12

Is not God in the height of heaven? And see the highest stars, how lofty they are!

When we look at the size of the universe, it sometimes becomes easier to see evolution as credible. After all, when we see galaxies that are said to be billions of light years away, it seems possible that there really have been millions of years. But, in truth, the immensity of space is really not so friendly to evolution's claim that the universe, and the Earth, are billions of years old.

The Milky Way galaxy, like many galaxies, is a spiral galaxy. You have probably seen the illustrations showing spiral arms of stars wrapped around the bright center of our galaxy. The stars closest to the center of our galaxy rotate around the center more rapidly than the stars further out on the spiral arms. When these differences in speed are worked out, we discover that our galaxy, no less our Earth, cannot be billions of years old. If the Milky Way was that old, the spiral arms would have long ago become nothing more than a disc of stars. Evolutionary scientists recognize this problem, calling it "the winding up dilemma." But they have been unable to come up with an explanation that is satisfactory.

As we look at the creation for evidence of its age, the clues we have so far found can only give us an upper limit. They cannot give us an exact age. But even the size of the universe fails to support the idea that the creation is billions of years old. If instead, we piece together the biblical genealogies, which are really ancient calendars, we arrive at an age for the creation of a little more than 6,000 years.

Prayer: Father, I praise and thank You that though You are great, You have loved me through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Muslims Vs Calvinist.

Muslims Vs Calvinist.

I was thinking about two video clips I have seen.

The first was a Muslim who was talking about as a Muslim he has to work his way into heaven and can never know if he has done enough work to actually earn his way into heaven.  This is sad because he can never know but at least he has hope that he might actually have earned his way in.  But this is a constant struggle.

Then recently I have been viewing a video by a Calvinist.  I have also had discussions with a strong Calvinist.  They view predestination as the idea that God has already made all decisions of what will happen before time began.  That means he has decided prior to day one who will go to heaven and who will go to hell.  The comment that through me today was about prayer, it was basically those who are not Calvinist pray to God with the thought that they can change his mind.  That must mean a Calvinist does not believe he can change God's mind by praying, in other words to a Calvinist prayer is useless because God has already decided what will happen.

So a True Calvinist has no hope!  Nothing he/she can do will get him into heaven because God has made that decision already, no faith, no belief, no confession, no baptism, nothing!  So a True Calvinist can never know if he is going to heaven, NEVER.  After all the bible says some who think they are believers will stand before God and he will say you never knew me. He also has no point in praying, why pray if God has already decided what will happen.

So in conclusion, a Muslim actually has more hope of getting into heaven than a Calvinist!

Now that said I need to say I do not believe either one is correct.  I believe that Jesus died for the whole world (John 3:16) that whoever believes in him will be saved.  That he is the only way to heaven but God gives us the choice to accept or reject the gift of salvation.

Who Do you Say Jesus Is

1. On the road from Bethsaida to Caesarea Philippi, Jesus asked His
   disciples two questions...
   a. "Who do men say that I am?" - Mk 8:27-28
   b. "But who do you say that I am?" - Mk 8:29-30

It is the most important question anyone could ask themselves.  Your response determines your destiny in this life and after this life.

King Herod thought this when he heard about Jesus - Mk 6:14
Perhaps motivated by guilt for having beheaded John - Mk 6:16
Likely based on their misunderstanding of Malachi's prophecy - Mal 4:5
Which Jesus explained referred to John the Baptist - Mt 17:10-13
As mentioned in Matthew's account of this conversation - Mt 16:14

But the key question today is this:  "Who do YOU say that Jesus is...?"
   b. Your answer will determine your eternity - cf. Mt 10:32-38; Ac 17:30-31
   a. Your answer will determine how you live today - cf. Mt 28:18-20

My prayer is that you would join with Peter and countless others and confess to Jesus:
"You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Why not confess Jesus now, as you obey the gospel of Christ (e.g., Acts 8:35-38).
For you will either confess Him now, or confess Him later when it is too late...! - Php 2:9-11

God Can’t do what?

I think I have covered it before but was pondering the question “What Can’t God do?

There was an old routine form a comedian in which he asked the question:

“If God is all powerful can he make a rock so big that he himself cannot move it?”

I am not so sure this is a relevant question but I think it is good to ponder things God Cannot Do!

For instance we are told in Titus 1:2 that God cannot lie.  This makes sense and is consistent with his nature.  It is also reassuring to know that we can trust the word of God.

An Internet search of “GOD CANNOT” will bring up many results.

So today Ponder the things God cannot do.

One I enjoyed was by Chuck Missler of Koinonia House:

http://www.khouse.org/articles/2004/567/
What God Can’t Do and Doesn’t Know by Chuck Missler

Three Things God Can’t Do
# He cannot lie.
# He cannot learn.
# He cannot force you to love Him.

Four Things God “Doesn’t Know”
# He doesn’t know a sin He doesn’t hate.
# He doesn’t know a sinner He doesn’t love.
# He doesn’t know an alternate path to His Throne but through His son.
# He doesn’t know a better time to accept Him than now!

Another good list was from Fred Worth

http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/6221/god_cant.html
THINGS GOD CAN’T DO By Fred Worth
1. Lie
2. Act in Opposition to His Word
3. Look upon sin or unrighteousness
4. Forsake His children
5. Fail to keep His Word
6. Share first place in your life
7. Remember repented sins
8. Be tricked
9. Be tempted
10. Turn a deaf ear to a repentant sinner or believer

Look for others and rejoice that when you come to the Lord and give your life to him he remembers your sin no more.

Baptism

A quick search on "bapt" yielded 91 results.  Some of these are John the Baptist but many talk about our relation ship with Christ.

One that stands out is Gal 3:27  "For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ."

What a picture, we put on Christ when we are baptized.  Paul also use the idea of being buried with Christ.

Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?  Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.  Rom 6:3-4

This is a great picture.  But many argue that you are not saved through baptism.  It is a good argument, but then what did Peter mean when he says in 1Pe 3:21  "There is also an antitype which now saves us - baptism"?  Peter said Baptism saves us!  He is the one who also said in Acts 2:38 "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins". So one could assume then that before baptism there was still sin, and if sin then no salvation.

I think the Faith Only crowd has a problem with some of these verses because the don't want works to be used, but how do you determin faith?   "But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?"  Jas 2:20

There are those who would argue that baptism is the first step of obedience.  I would contend it is the final step of our believing faith. Just as the engagement does not make a married couple but the wedding ceremony does.

Hear, Believe, Confess, Repent, and be Baptized!

Science

What is science?

When someone says you throw out science if you do not believe in evolution what do they mean?

When the first one is used it is meant to mean observational science. That is repeatable science that you can observe. Things like if I let go of my pen it falls to the floor, I can repeat this over and over again and get the same result so you can expect the same result.

The second one is philosophical or historical "science". That is to say I see x therefore y happened. An example of this would be I see a broken egg on the floor so it must have fallen from the counter. Do you know for sure it fell from the counter, no. Maybe the kids where throwing eggs and dropped one, maybe many other things happened.

The point is that the science used by evolution and creation opponent, is applying what we see today and believe today to what we "THINK" happened in the past. We can not know for sure what happened in the past but we can guess based on what our belief is.

Those who believe in the Bible believe God has told us what happened, the Bible as History. So we have the testimony of someone who was there. 6 days approximately 6000 years ago.

Those who reject the Bible believe in LONG periods of time to "evolve" what we see today. And they still can not explain it so it makes scenes.

Many good "Scientist" believe in Creation!

A good list would be at answers in genesis (http://www.answersingenesis.org) the scientist list http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/bios/

Yes you can be a scientist and believe in Creation.

Today makes 28 years with my lovely wife!
Ups and Downs but overall Great years. It is not easy it is work.

So what about your life with Christ, how long has that been? Are you happy with your relationship with Christ? Are you telling people about your relationship with Christ?

Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you. —Mark 5:19

Evolution is a religion!
Evolution is a sham!

Freedom

I wanted to share a few ideas on Freedom.

We are not free because of our own doing. Freedom in the Lord is because of Jesus Christ. He came to seek and save the LOST of which I was one. I was a person who walked deep in the philosophy of the world and did not know or understand God. Jesus changed that one night, and although there were many things that lead to that exact moment it was a secular song on the radio that finally opened my eyes to the true reason Jesus came; To do what I could not, take away my sins if I only believed in who he was and what he had done and turned to trust him as Lord and Savior.

Next Freedom in our country is not free. Many hundreds of thousands of men and women have died for the freedoms we enjoy. If we do not stand up and protect them we will loose them.

So I ask in both cases what I you doing about the Freedom that has been given to you?

Isa 61:1 (NIV)

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,

Luk 4:16-21 (NIV)

He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read.
The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed,

to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him,

and he began by saying to them, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."

Gal 5:1 (NIV)

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Eph 3:12 (NIV)

In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

Jas 1:25 (NIV)

But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

1Pe 2:16 (NIV)

Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.

9th Circuit Court

U.S. Supreme Court looks over 9th Circuit’s shoulder

Carol J. Williams writes at the LA Times: “This term, justices reversed, at least partially, 94% of the Western appeals court’s rulings. Part of the reason, experts say, is the court is perceived as liberal and partial to the underdog.”

2009 half gone

Well the end of June is here and that means 2009 is half gone.

What have you done with the year so far?

Have you impacted the world for God? Ok that is big, really big, but lets look at it this way, Have you impacted your neighborhood for God? Has the reality of God, Heaven, and Hell overcome you to the point that you must tell others the Good News of Jesus Christ so that they will not spend eternity in hell?

If you have not told others about Jesus then why?

I was at a public event this past weekend and a gentleman and his wife came up to us and introduced himself. He then asked if we knew someone loved us? We responded yes. He then asked if we died today do we know if we would go to heaven and we replied yes. He then asked how do you know that? It was a good conversation and a challenge to me to be more like that man and tell others, yes even strangers, about the good news of Jesus Christ.

Science

What is Science

“The chief aim of all investigations of the external world should be to discover the rational order and harmony which has been imposed on it by God.”

we live? Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc., p. 51.

Snared by the devil

2 Timothy 2:24-26 (NKJV)
24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.

What does this mean?
1st I think the big picture shows those who are not part of the Kingdom of God are taken captive by the devil.
Next there is a TRUTH
Next they have lost their senses ("may come to their senses") and don't know the truth.
Next we are to instruct them, with humility and patients, to show then the truth such that God might grant them repentance.

What else does this mean, well we need to interact with unbelievers. We need to be kind to them but instruct them in the TRUTH. We need to not give ground as we have the TRUTH, but we need to share this Truth in a kind and gentle way in hopes that unbelievers would come to repentance.

Are you sharing the truth?

Statement of Faith!

I love this intro into an article, what a statement of faith and belief of what one believes in:

Christian Standard, A Publication of Standard Publishing
To Know and Speak by Joe Bliffen 5/24/2009

I am a Disciples of Christ pastor. I am “certified by the Christian Church in Ohio’s Commission on Ministry as a clergy person who has standing with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)” (from a letter confirming this recognition dated October 2004).

I also believe the 66 books of the Bible are the inspired, inerrant revelation of God and that the 27 books of the New Testament are the only authority for the faith, practice, morals, and ethics of both individual Christians and the church.

I believe creation took place over the course of six 24-hour days through the spoken Word of God. I believe the Genesis history of Adam and Eve and of the worldwide flood at the time of Noah. I believe in the virgin birth of Christ, his physical resurrection from the dead, and that Jesus is coming again to save the redeemed and condemn the unredeemed.

I believe a person is saved by the grace of God through one’s faith in Jesus and repentance of sins when he is immersed into Christ.

http://www.christianstandard.com/articledisplay.asp?id=1239

The article goes on from there but the statement of faith/belief is wonderful. Way to go Joe Bliffen!

The 6 most important days

What are the six most important days?

It terms of human existence I think a strong argument could be made for 6 days that happened about 6,000 years ago as described in Genesis chapter 1.
All this happens before anything else happens "In The Beginning" and everything was made then, stars, moon, sun, earth, water, plants, animals, man, everything.

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Gen 1:2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Gen 1:3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
Gen 1:4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.
Gen 1:5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.
Gen 1:6 Then God said, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters."
Gen 1:7 Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so.
Gen 1:8 And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.
Gen 1:9 Then God said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear"; and it was so.
Gen 1:10 And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good.
Gen 1:11 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth"; and it was so.
Gen 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Gen 1:13 So the evening and the morning were the third day.
Gen 1:14 Then God said, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;
Gen 1:15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth"; and it was so.
Gen 1:16 Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.
Gen 1:17 God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth,
Gen 1:18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.
Gen 1:19 So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
Gen 1:20 Then God said, "Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens."
Gen 1:21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Gen 1:22 And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth."
Gen 1:23 So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
Gen 1:24 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind"; and it was so.
Gen 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Gen 1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
Gen 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Gen 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
Gen 1:29 And God said, "See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.
Gen 1:30 Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food"; and it was so.
Gen 1:31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Headlines

Here are a few headlines from just the past week or so — headlines that just might be enough to make your stomach churn:

* "Newsweek" recently did a cover story saying the Christianity has less influence on our culture today than at anytime in our nation's history. (That probably explains all of the following.)
* The president, contradicting every previous American president who addressed the issue, told leaders overseas that America is not a "Christian nation."
* Connecticut has become the fourth state to legalize homosexual "marriage."
* Miss California, Carrie Prejean, had the God-given honesty and fortitude to respond to a question by saying "marriage should be between a man and a woman." By all analysis, it cost her the Miss USA title. But the homosexual activist judge subjected her to a barrage of vulgarisms and obscenities. Guess who got interviewed on the networks. Yep, the gay activist.
* The Department of Homeland Security issued a memo describing conservatives, particularly anti-abortion (pro-life) conservatives, as possible terrorist threats. (So, how does it feel to be a "potential terrorist?")
* Democrats in Congress say they're just about to push through Congress the "Freedom of Choice Act" which would eliminate all abortion restrictions. (That helps explain the previous item.)
* The government will allow the "morning after" abortion pill to girls as young as 17 without a prescription. (Are you sensing a theme here?)
* Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D-Kan.) just vetoed a popular pro-life bill, the 2009 Late-Term and Partial-Birth Abortion Regulation Act, in her state. And now, financially supported by one of the nation's leading abortionists, she may become the nation's Secretary of Health and Human Services. (She'll fit right in.)
* The House Judiciary Committee passed the "hate crimes" bill which could result in prosecution if you or your pastor quotes Bible passages saying homosexuality is sinful behavior and someone is (heaven forbid) offended.
* The FCC is considering rules that would "require equal time to contrary opinions on controversial issues," according to Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice. He notes that the proclamation of the Gospel, the definition of marriage and the issue of abortion would all be deemed "controversial topics," increasing the flood of immoral opinions on the air — or the cessation of Christian values reporting. Christian broadcasters would be especially vulnerable.
* Georgetown University, a Jesuit institution, was forced by the White House to cover over the monogram "IHS," signifying the name of Christ, before the president would speak there.
* Tomorrow a painting is to be unveiled in New York City's Union Station depicting Barack Obama with his arms outstretched and wearing a crown of thorns. The "messiah painting" by Michael D'Antuono, is entitled "The Truth." (Could this relate to the previous item?)
* The Presbyterian Church (USA) voted 89-69 to keep a requirement that its officers practice "fidelity within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman, or chastity in singleness." (Why did there even need to be a vote on this? And why in the world was it so close?)

Sunrise

Sunrise 4/22/09 over Sheridan, WY

Romans 1:18-20
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

A LITTLE GUN HISTORY.

I'm old and only own one or two....

A LITTLE GUN HISTORY....

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control.
From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control.
From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938.
From 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935.
From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964.
From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970.
From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956.
From 1975 to 1977, one million educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by
new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government,
a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.
The first year results are now in:
List of 7 items:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent
Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.
Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms,
this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.
There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY.
Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort,
and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns
The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this datum on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.
Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes,
gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'.

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

If you value your freedom, Please spread this anti-gun control message to all of your friends.

The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense.

The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either.
The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental..

As John Steinbeck once said:
1. Don't pick a fight with an old man... If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.
2 If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.
3. I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.
4. When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away.
5. A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers.
The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him
'Why do you carry a 45?' The Ranger responded, 'Because they don't make a 46.'
6. An armed man will kill an unarmed man with monotonous regularity.
7. The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm.
'Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?'
'No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my rifle.'
8. Beware the man who only has one gun. HE PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE IT!!!

But wait, there's more!

I was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house.
I said I did.
She said 'Well I certainly hope it isn't loaded!'
To which I said, 'Of course it is loaded, can't work without bullets!'
She then asked, are you that afraid of someone evil coming into your house?'
My reply was, 'No, not at all.
I am not afraid of the house catching fire either, but I have fire extinguishers around, and they are all loaded too.'
To which I'll add, having a gun in the house that isn't loaded is like having a car in the garage without gas in the tank.

I'm a firm believer of the 2nd Amendment! If you are too, please share this.

1. Can we understand why "The Gospel Of Christ" is "good news"...?
a. The "facts to believe" contains the message of God's love and
grace
b. The "commands to obey" are not difficult works, done to earn
salvation, but simple acts of faith whereby we receive God's grace
- cf. 1Jn 5:3
c. The "promises to receive" help us deal with the real problem of
sin in our lives

2. What have you done with "The Gospel of Christ"...?
a. You have now heard it, if not before
b. You know as much as those who heard it on the day of Pentecost, if
not even more

Together with the apostle Peter, we implore you...

"...Be saved from this perverse generation." (Ac 2:40)

Respond as they did (in faith and baptism, Ac 2:41), and rest assured
that Jesus will save you and add you to His church! - cf. Ac 2:41,47

~ Words that soak into your ears are whispered...not yelled.

~ When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.
~ The best sermons are lived, not preached.
~ Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.
~ Don't judge folks by their relatives.
~ Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
~ Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time.
~ Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't botherin' you none.

Prayer Warrior!

A “Prayer warrior” is a person who is convinced that God is omnipotent – that God has the power to do anything, to change anyone and to intervene in any circumstance. A person who truly believes this refuses to doubt God.
From “Too Busy Not To Pray” by Bill Hybels; P 38

Pelosi Dumber than soap

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8hMJVXt09E
Nancy Pelosi: Dumber than soap. Nancy claims that we lose 500 million American jobs each month we don't pass her $1 trillion pork barell spending boondoggle.

500,000,000 American Jobs each month?
305,754,108 U.S.Population (http://www.census.gov/main/www/popclock.html)

So that means every man, woman, and child in the US has lost their job twice every month. That is the democratic mentality for you. Lie about everything to put FEAR into your mind so you will be in favor of them taxing you into oblivion and then spending trillions on pork.

Repent!

When Paul was in Athens - Acts 17:16-34 He spoke to the Greeks, Gentiles of the day, who did not believe in God, but self. They believed in evolution and not creation. Paul takes them back to creation using the unknown god statue they have.
As he is wrapping this up he states to them in Acts 17:30 that God Commands ALL PEOPLE to Repent!
This was not just to believers but to all people of the world.

Team USA

I am watching the inauguration on TV. As I see all the Obama merchandise on TV I am reminded of a line from the movie Miracle when the coach ask “What Team are you on”. At first they all respond their own colleges but then finally one team member comes out with “TEAM USA”!

So I wonder about all those folks wearing Obama merchandise, “Who's Team Are You On?”, Obama or Team USA?

I am on Team USA! The office of President not the man should be honored. So much is made of him being the first black president, but he is only half black so does that also make him just another white president?

Pray!

Sunrise to Sunset.
Days are getting longer but it will be nice when I get off work before sunset.

1 Peter 1:2-4 (NIV)

2who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood:
Grace and peace be yours in abundance.
Praise to God for a Living Hope
3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you,
