19756

Star Date 19756

Today is my cousins birthday, our would have been.  She passed away about 2 1/2 years ago to be with the Lord.  She was a strong believer in Christ and I am sure she is walking with him today.

It is also my sisters birthday, they were born the same day in the same town in two different hospitals.

Thinking of both of them today.

Noah

Noah
Rest, (Heb. Noah) the grandson of Methuselah (Gen 5:25-29), who was for two hundred and fifty years contemporary with Adam, and the son of Lamech, who was about fifty years old at the time of Adam’s death. This patriarch is rightly regarded as the connecting link between the old and the new world. He is the second great progenitor of the human family.
The words of his father Lamech at his birth (Gen 5:29) have been regarded as in a sense prophetical, designating Noah as a type of Him who is the true “rest and comfort” of men under the burden of life (Mat 11:28).
He lived five hundred years, and then there were born unto him three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth (Gen 5:32). He was a “just man and perfect in his generation,” and “walked with God” (Compare Ezek 14:14, 20). But now the descendants of Cain and of Seth began to intermarry, and then there sprang up a race distinguished for their ungodliness. Men became more and more corrupt, and God determined to sweep the earth of its wicked population (Gen 6:7). But with Noah God entered into a covenant, with a promise of deliverance from the threatened deluge (Gen 6:18). He was accordingly commanded to build an ark (Gen 6:14-16) for the saving of himself and his house. An interval of one hundred and twenty years elapsed while the ark was being built (Gen 6:3), during which Noah bore constant testimony against the unbelief and wickedness of that generation (1Pe 3:18-20; 2Pe 2:5).
When the ark of “gopher-wood” (mentioned only here) was at length completed according to the command of the Lord, the living creatures that were to be preserved entered into it; and then Noah and his wife and sons and daughters-in-law entered it, and the “Lord shut him in” (Gen 7:16). The judgment-threatened now fell on the guilty world, “the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished” (2Pe 3:6). The ark floated on the waters for one hundred and fifty days, and then rested on the mountains of Ararat (Gen 8:3, 4); but not for a considerable time after this was divine permission given him to leave the ark, so that he and his family were a whole year shut up within it (Gen 6-14).
On leaving the ark Noah’s first act was to erect an altar, the first of which there is any mention, and offer the sacrifices of adoring thanks and praise to God, who entered into a covenant with him, the first covenant between God and man, granting him possession of the earth by a new and special charter, which remains in force to the present time (Gen 8:21-9:17). As a sign and witness of this covenant, the rainbow was adopted and set apart by God, as a sure pledge that never again would the earth be destroyed by a flood.
But, alas! Noah after this fell into grievous sin (Gen 9:21); and the conduct of Ham on this sad occasion led to the memorable prediction regarding his three sons and their descendants. Noah “lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years, and he died” (@@28:29~~). (See DELUGE).
Noah, motion, (Heb. No?ah) one of the five daughters of Zelophehad (Num 26:33; Num 27:1; Num 36:11; Jos 17:3).

Warriors of God

When the servant of the man of God got up early and went out, he discovered an army with horses and chariots surrounding the city. So he asked Elisha, "Oh, my master, what are we to do?"
Elisha said, "Don't be afraid, for those who are with us outnumber those who are with them."
Then Elisha prayed, "LORD, please open his eyes and let him see." So the LORD opened the servant's eyes. He looked and saw that the mountain was covered with horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
2 Kings 6:15-17 HCSB

2 Kings 6:15-17
Since Gehazi had been dismissed as a disobedient servant and “leper” (2Ki_5:27), the Naaman story must follow this one if Elisha’s servant here is Gehazi. Or this servant may be someone who replaced Gehazi. Early the next morning the servant was terrified to see that the whole city was under the Arameans’ control, or so he thought. He returned in a frenzy to Elisha and nervously asked, What shall we do? The servant’s anxiety reflected his lack of understanding and trust in the Lord which, one would think, Elisha’s previous revelations would have changed.
Elisha was not at all disturbed by the present situation. He encouraged his aide to stop fearing, and assured him that they had behind them a force superior to that of the enemy. Elisha then asked the Lord to enable his servant to see this host and the Lord did so. He gave the servant the ability to see the normally unseen world of invisible spirits (angels) that are constantly ready to do God’s bidding (cf. Gen_28:12). The hills around Dothan were filled with superior horses and chariots. These appeared as fiery agents of God suggesting to the servant their superterrestrial origin (cf. 2Ki_2:11). The Lord had surrounded the armies of Aram and was in control.
Bible Knowledge Commentary

Angels are the servants of God, they are also the warriors of God.

May the lord open your eyes to his work.

Fear and/or Knowledge

Fear and/or Knowledge

Proverbs 9:10 NIV84  "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

So what kind of fear is being talked about here in proverbs?  Is it I am so afraid I am going to run away, or I am fearful I am not good enough to stand in front of the Lord.

I would contend it is the latter, when we realize we can not stand in the presence of the Lord on our own we have come to a point where we understand this verse.  We fall on our knees and cry out "Lord help me" we understand the beginning of wisdom comes only from the true God who created everything.

Winter

Winter is here, I know this because I have spent several days over the last few weeks shoveling snow.  Now it has not been a lot but Since I have had time I spent extra time doing a few extra driveways and sidewalks in the neighborhood.  The fun part is to see if you can do it without being caught, the secret neighbor good deed as it were.
So far only one neighbor has caught me, she was out yesterday while I was doing my driveway, a little left over from Sundays storm but not much, and she was getting her mail and thanked me for doing their driveway during the last  big storm (several inches of snow that time).   Ok so when they are elderly and home all the time it is harder to do something for them without being caught.

I also know it is winter because it is getting colder.  Yesterday was -2 here in town, of course it was -35 in Yellowstone Wyoming so I could be thankful we were not that cold.

Acts 11:18 When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying,
“Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.”
