Genealogy is an interesting thing. With it we get all kinds of information. When you go to the doctor they want to know your genealogy, OK not specifically but they ask for a family history.
Genealogy also ties us to events. My grandfather did a wagon train survey in 1920 from Rawlins Wyoming to Rock Springs Wyoming. Hard to believe they were doing wagons then but we are so accustom to cars now. This shows us how history has changed.
Genealogy ties us to places geographically. I was born and raised in Illinois. My relatives are from east of there and my Great Grandfather came over from Germany. I also know he was a hat maker.
Genealogy also gives us History. When we look at the bible there are what seems like endless genealogies in the bible. These are there to tie events together.
Creation starts and on day 6 the first man is created, then his wife is created from his rib. Adam and Eve sin and are cast out of the Garden. Adam is later refereed to as the "First Adam", he has son's and daughter's and they have children, .... to Noah.
Noah was a faithful man who loved God when no one else seemed to. Noah had sons and built and ark to save mankind. Then we move through the genealogies past Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob. Then down to David..
Then Jesus is born and the New Testament takes us from David to Jesus through both Mary and through Joseph.
All this helps to give us a time line of events along the way. Archeology helps to date these events as well. Adding it all up and James Ussher came up with a year of 4004 BC for the creation of the world.
This through Genealogy and archeology to verify events and dates.
SO genealogy helps us confirm creation being about 6000 years ago and taking 6 days.
God confirms this when he gives us the ten commandments.
Exodus 20:8-11
8 "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
I take His word over man's belief in evolution every time. He is Lord, He was there, He created all things.
John 1:1-3
